Brian Normand

Co-Founder

Brian cofounded Psymposia while at the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a way for students to discuss issues surrounding psychedelic science and drug reform. He received a BS in Plant, Soil, and Insect Science with a focus in Business, Magna Cum Laude.

After a drug task force raid in 2012 for cultivating cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms he faced civil asset forfeiture and significant prison time. In 2013 he beat all charges.

He supports complete drug decriminalization and educating people about the actual causes of mass incarceration in order to end it. He’s critical of psychedelic medicalization and legalization within the existing frameworks, and of drug reform efforts that fail to recognize and address systemic human rights abuses in Mexico, Latin America, and around the world.

He’s organized numerous events around the world, including Boston, New York, California, London, and Mexico.
